Fading of Pleasures

String Quartet

Fading of Pleasures traces the arc of joy as it passes through us and recedes — three movements, four seasons. This original piece of String Quartet Sheet Music captures that ephemeral journey.

The first moves with the lightness of Spring: playful, romantic, touched by humor, the four voices chasing one another like blossoms carried by the wind.

The second settles into Summer’s slower rhythm — languid heat, the search for shade, a yellowing of the grass. The music breathes heavily, beauty still present but already leaning toward its end.

The third is Autumn pressing into Winter. The voices grow urgent, turbulent, at times dissonant — pleasure refusing to surrender quietly. The ending does not resolve so much as exhaust itself, leaving silence not as peace, but as the only possible aftermath.

World premiere: Umbria, Italy — Umbria Ensemble, September 2024.
